Teaching and Performing

Based in the inner west of Sydney and in Byron Bay, Carla teaches one on one lessons of either 1/2 or 1 hour depending on the age and skill level of the student. Her lessons focus on classical technique which is the basis of all styles of flute performance. She teaches all levels of flute players from beginners to tertiary level  as lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).  More info...

Carla has had 20 years full-time professional orchestral experience, for ten years of that, a  principal flute with the Opera Australia Orchestra based at the Sydney Opera House. She has performed and recorded with most of the professional Australian orchestras - Sydney Symphony (SSO), West Australian Symphony (WASO), Queensland Symphony (QSO) and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and post graduate studies at the London Guildhall School of Music in the UK and baroque flute studies at the Royal College of Music, London. She has a Masters degree in film and music from the Queensland University of Technology where she taught flute and improvisation at a tertiary level and a Doctorate in music and film from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Carla is available for solo and ensemble engagements for festivals, concerts and private events.
